What exactly is a realtor? Most people think that "realtor" is another word for a "real estate agent", but this is not so.
A realtor is a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of Realtors, or (NAR) and adheres to the NAR's strict code of ethics.
To become a realtor, a person must pass the licensing examination of the state in which they want to sell real estate and must also must become a member at the local, state and national level of the National Association of Realtors. Also, members have to pay fees to obtain/retain the designation of a realtor.
