Real Estate Agents
A real estate agent is a person who is licensed to negotiate and transact the sale of real estate. They usually work for the buyer, the seller or a mortgage broker. When working with a real estate agent, there are some things you should know. First and foremost, you should know who the real estate agent is representing. This is important because he or she is obligated to get the best possible deal for people they are working for. For instance, if you see a telephone number on a for sale sign in front of a house, chances are that the number is to the seller's agent. So, if you call that number, that person will not be working in your best interests. Do not disclose personal or confidential information to seller's agents, as they will relay that info to the sellers! On the other hand, if you arrange to work with a real estate agent who is not already working with the sellers, you'll most likely get that particular agent's full attention and cooperation to get you the best deal possible.
